Happy April fools day! I'm not here to trick you today into thinking De Boa is going to switch to a Bikram Yoga study, even though it is getting hot in Surprise, AZ. I happen to live in a world that everyday is April Fools Day. Everyday I tell someone about the Academy, and right away the person says "I want to come train!"
I have been in this business long enough to know that when someone says "I want to come train" doesn't mean that person is going to come train. The majority of the time what it means is I want to sound like I want to come train.
Today I want to look at 5 reason why people decide not to try out a Jiu Jitsu gym:
1.) Intimidated- I remember my first day of Jiu Jitsu, it was intimating. I didn't know where to stand, I wasn't comfortable rolling on the ground with men, I'd never even trained a martial art. The first challenge in Jiu Jitsu is walking through that door and conquering that fear. At De Boa we offer a friendly atmosphere that through intro programs and qualified staff make you feel at ease your first time walking through the door.
2.) No time- Yes if there was only two classes a week and they so happened to fall on Monday Night Football and Breaking Bad I can see that you clearly do not have the time. At De Boa we offer classes from 6:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. and offer private lessons that fit around your busy schedule.
3.) No Money- An energy drink or coffee costs you $3 /day, $21/ week, $84 /month. There is your gym membership, water is better for you anyways.
4.) I'm too out of shape and overweight- I hear this all the time, "I'm going to get in shape first then come train." I have witnessed people in great shape that can run a marathon, that can't make it through a Jiu Jitsu class without vomitting. Jiu Jitsu is a different kind of workout, the best way to get in shape for Jiu Jitsu is Jiu Jitsu!
5.) I can't afford to get hurt for my job- Can you afford to be physically out of shape and not know how to defend yourself?
Today is the day make a better tomorrow, come try out a class! I pitty the fool!
