Well...it's starting to look official! We are estimating our Grand Opening in about 1 month! Stayed tuned for updates!!
This weekend thePan American Jiu Jitsu tournament is taking place in Irvine, CA at UC Irvine. The week of Pans is kind of a holiday for Jiu Jitsu practitioners. De Boa Jiu Jitsu Academy looks forward to preparing for the next Pans, we will be bringing a solid team next year. This year we will be represented by Purple Belt Tyson Antillon as he takes on one of the toughest divisions in the entire tournament. Tyson's Lightweight division has the top 60 competitors around the world all fighting for the top of the podium. We wish Tyson luck as he goes out and tests his skills, we know you will make us proud. A little side bit of information is that the Academy is getting close to being opened. We recently ordered all the mats to be shipped, and the build out is largely completed. We are only waiting on some permits from the city of Surprise, it won't be much longer. We couldn't be more excited about the core group of students the academy will open its doors with. Come try out some free classes today! This is the time of year I am really grateful to live in Arizona, it is shorts and a t-shirt weather already. What the means is days out at the pool, lake or waterpark our right around the corner. This is typically the time of year people really want to tone up and look their best.
Jiu Jitsu is great for improving your quality of life, weight loss and body transfermation is just one of the many benefits. The best part about this kind of workout is that you will be having fun doing it. With so many of Jiu Jitsu's basics involving the core you will get the best abdominal workout of your life. Seven minute abs is a thing of the past. The future, your future, is experiencing the life changing art of Jiu Jitsu. Besides the weight, what do you have to lose? I am sure you have seen Ronda Rousey's finish of Cat Zingano in just 14 seconds by now. If not check it out: Jiu Jitsu has been proving itself since UFC 1 as an elite fighting system. At De Boa Jiu Jitsu Academy we can't guarantee that you will be the next Ronda Rousey, we can guarantee you will be the superhero version of yourself.
Come learn one of the essential styles of today's current MMA scene and also a great way of self defense. In Jiu Jitsu a smaller person being attack can neutralize the attack of a much larger person by the use of technique. Jiu Jitsu don't leave home without it! Not sure if Jiu Jitsu is for you?
Well, here's your opportunity to give it a try for FREE! Yes...Free! De Boa is offering a free trail for anyone age 5-?? Jiu Jitsu won’t just train you, it will change your life! You can learn martial arts anywhere but, at De Boa you will find a huge commitment to teaching you and your children, whether you are here to compete, defend yourself or even to learn self discipline and respect. It is so hard to explain the profound impact Brazilian Jiu Jitsu can have on a person. Most students hope to be able to simply defend themselves. They would have never imagined that not only did they accomplish that, but they are now at a level where they could easily defeat just about anyone who has never had similar training. You can expect to be more fit, toned and look and feel better than you ever had before. This weekend the 10th AZ International Open took place at Phoenix College, the event marked the first official competition of our gym. We were very excited to have Purple Belt Tyson Antillon representing the gym along with White Belt Jonny Weber! Tyson did great, he is quickly becoming a favorite to watch for all the AZ Jiu Jitsu Community. His fast pace technical matches have the crowd captivated on every grip. Tyson took second in his weight class and third in the open weight. Jonny competed in just his second ever Jiu Jitsu tournament. His first and only match ended with him behind on points. We are very proud of Jonny for his preparation for the tournament and for getting out on the mats. He showed what De Boa is all about, great drive and determination accompanied by great sportsmanship and representation of himself and the gym. This week at De Boa we start a two week series on back takes, back attacks, and back escapes. First we will take time to look at the matches from our students and areas where we can improve on. This is a very important piece to competition is the growth after the fact. We look forward to bringing a larger team to the NABJJF Grand Canyon State Tournament in April! Well....it's official!! We have broken ground!
We went to meet with the sign company yesterday at the property and to our surprise the build out had begun. Reality hit in, we were filled with excitement, accompanied by some anxiety. We have been anxiously awaiting this moment but, realized that we have some work to do. Stay tuned in, we will update the progress as it goes. Looking forward to opening day. De Boa Jiu Jitsu Academy, coming VERY soon! Today's society has veered away from competition in order to help massage peoples egos and make sure no one feels like a loser. At De Boa we encourage competition and find areas of improvement win or lose. Just because you lose doesn't make you a loser. In life you are not guaranteed to win or be successful at everything you do. Jiu Jitsu creates a great opportunity to learn how to deal with failures and set backs and how to improve from then. A better measure of success in life is measuring an individuals ability to reach his' or hers' own potential. Jiu Jitsu will surely provide many challenging days, days you feel frustrated and torn down. These days are the days you will learn the most and will prepare you best for the future. Come figure out how to learn from your challenges and work towards reaching your potential in Jiu Jitsu and in life at De Boa Jiu Jitsu Academy. How many of you have gone through or are going through a time in your life where you go out and drink several times a week? How many of you then topped it off with a carne asada burrito at the end? How many of you wasted the next day on the couch feeling miserable? How is your wallet looking after a night of drinking, empty?
At De Boa we paint a different lifestyle to follow. Instead of going out several times a week to the bar, go out several times a week to the gym. You will find the addiction of Jiu Jitsu is much more fulfilling than the emptiness of your old party lifestyle. At De Boa you will meet friends that share common goals and interests in life and look to challenge you. At the bar you will meet friends that challenge you to a shot and then might throw up in your car. At De Boa you will perfect your diet that makes your body run at peak levels and get in the best shape of your life. At the bar your body is filled with toxins that slow you down and your diet doesn't benefit from the 2 a.m. drunk food. At De Boa you will feel sore the next morning but also accomplished and ready to take on the next day. At the bar you will feel miserable the next day and find it a hard task to take on your couch and your toilet. At De Boa you will spend your time making yourself better. At the bar you will spend your money making yourself worse. The decision is clear my friends, see you on the mat! This week we are going over guard basics, essential to all skill levels. |
